History of Sleepingbear Forge

Welcome to my Forge, or what will become my Forge on the net. My name is Sam Ray Keller, and I am a proud son of the Lone Star State and a true Texican.
My blacksmithing journey began in 1955, when I made my first visit with the Blacksmith Shop in Alvarado, Texas and watched Mr. Ducket the Blacksmith straighten the drive shaft off of a 1948 Ford Coupe. Got my first Forge in '56, my grandpa's forge built from a #3 Washtub.I have been breathing Coal smoke ever since (but to my lasting shame, not continually).

In 1998, due to a pressing need for Tent Stakes, I built a forge, and as the blurbs say "The rest is history". With a small start of taking tent stakes to rendezvous, I have since added a full line of Camp Related Iron Gear. Being as my Camp name is Sleeping Bear, the name of my traveling Blacksmith Shop became "Sleepingbear Forge".

Today I do an average of 20 Public appearences a year, from Houston Texas to as far North as Williamsburg, Kansas.
